Here are some facts and information about the number 13:
- Triskaidekaphobia means the fear of number 13,
- The number 13 is a prime number,
- Some people trace the origins of 13 as an unlucky number back to Jesus and the 12 Apostles at the Last Supper; 13 men and one would soon die,
- Norse mythology also believes 13 is unlucky because, as the story goes, there was a dinner party of 12 gods, and one of the evil gods named Loki arrived unannounced. He was so upset that he tricked one god into killing his brother. The brother was another god named Balder. He was the god of light and joy. (“Loki” could be pronounced “Lucky”, and to be un-lucky would mean to not be in agreement with Loki.),
- Before the next Friday the 13th, there will be 13 Dornisch grandchildren, (Can you name ALL of them?),
- On Friday, October 13, 1307, the arrest and torture of the Knights Templar began. (Read The DaVinci Code if you don’t understand that one.),
- Apollo 13. The rocket launched at 1313 hours (1:13pm),
- Most hotels and skyscrapers do not have a 13th floor. Check the elevator panel next time you are in a large building.
